Arachas, the country’s largest nationwide insurance broker, today announces Joey Wynne, the current Deputy CEO, will take on the role of CEO from Conor Brennan, subject to Central Bank of Ireland approval, as part of a longstanding succession plan and is charged with further developing the Irish business.
Joey was appointed Deputy CEO of Arachas earlier this year with a view to assuming the role of CEO in January 2024 following Conor Brennan’s appointment into his dual role as CEO of Ardonagh Europe in 2021. Arachas became part of The Ardonagh Group in 2020.
Conor will assume the new role of Executive Chairman of The Ardonagh Group’s International portfolio, bringing entities previously part of Ardonagh Europe and Ardonagh Global Partners under one leadership team. He will be joined by Des O’Connor as Chief Investment Officer International, previously CEO Ardonagh Global Partners, and former Arachas CFO John McCarthy as International CFO, to rapidly develop and implement a joined-up growth strategy across existing and future partner businesses globally.
Conor oversaw the successful sale and growth of Arachas from 200 to 700 employees over a five-year period, and will now work with Ardonagh’s in-country CEOs across Europe and worldwide.
Joey held the role of Chief Commercial Officer at Arachas prior to his appointment as Deputy CEO and has been working closely with Conor over the past months to ensure a smooth transition and continued execution of Arachas’s growth strategy.
Commenting on his appointment, Conor Brennan, Executive Chairman of Ardonagh International, said; “It’s been the opportunity of a lifetime to lead Arachas through this period of growth and expansion, with a fantastic team and customers. Ardonagh had the foresight to invest in our business three years ago and they have seen how it has flourished and have now asked both Des and I to help grow the international footprint of the business in a similar fashion.
Having worked so closely with Joey, I know that he has the right leadership profile, customer focus and passion to write the next chapter of the Arachas success story.”
Joey Wynne added:
“Having worked so closely with Conor over the past number of years, I’m honoured to have been afforded this opportunity to build on his very impressive achievements by becoming the next CEO of Arachas, subject to Central Bank approval. I originally admired the Arachas business from afar and when I joined Arachas, through one of its acquisitions, I got to truly understand what makes the business so successful- the people that drive it.
I look forward to leading that team of 700 employees across 18 nationwide offices. Together, we will continue to look for new ways to deliver for our customers by way of innovation and our key insurer partnerships, He concluded”
